On this day in 1948 the National Association for Stock Car Racing was incorporated. NASCAR went on to become one of America\u2019s favorite sports. <\/p>\n
The idea for an association came from Bill France, Sr., who saw how rules for racing varied from one event to another as well as the rise of dishonest promoters who would often steal prize money. France was the first president of NASCAR.<\/p>\n
