{"id":69,"date":"2019-01-12T11:32:05","date_gmt":"2019-01-12T11:32:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/storiesofappalachia.com\/?p=69"},"modified":"2022-05-19T08:11:49","modified_gmt":"2022-05-19T12:11:49","slug":"a-dispute-over-liquor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/storiesofappalachia.com\/?p=69","title":{"rendered":"A Dispute Over Liquor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in 1911 several of the sons of Devil Anse and Levisa Hatfield came to the coal town of Boomer, in Fayette County, West Virginia, with the intent of opening a saloon.\u00a0 Now in those days saloons not only provided one with a stiff drink at the bar, they also delivered beer and liquor directly to one&#8217;s house.
