Early on Christmas Day, 1945, a fire broke out at the home of George and Jennie Sodder near Fayetteville, West Virginia, apparently taking the lives of their five younger children. I say apparently, because no remains were ever found. The Sodders were adamant that their children were abducted, not killed, even pointing fingers at the Sicilian Mafia over George’s criticism of the Italian government, Italy being his native home.
