Bad Talt Hall: Appalachian Outlaw

Over a hundred years ago, Talton Hall—known as “Bad Talt Hall,” outlaw, lawman, and reputed killer—was captured, tried, and hanged in Wise County, Virginia. His violent life, from the Civil War to blood feuds in Kentucky and Tennessee, left a trail of bodies and legends. This week we tell his story, from deputy sheriff to notorious fugitive, outlaw and rumored killer of a hundred men, to his final showdown with Norton Police Chief Enos Hylton, and his execution in Wise in 1892.
