The Notorious Kinnie Wagner

Spread the love

In the early twentieth century, a young man from Scott County, Virginia, joined the circus as a trick shooter, probably one of the best to come out of Appalachia. And in another time, in another place, that talent might have won him accolades, perhaps as a sniper in war, or as a military trainer. Instead he became a circus trick shot who made some money on the side moonshining, and it was this side hustle that got Kinnie arrested for shooting a police officer in Mississippi. That arrest, his escape, other shootings and arrests made him a legend.

Today we tell the story of the Notorious Kinnie Wagner.
